How do I view my schedule?You should have received an email from W2W (When to Work). It will prompt you to register your account and create a new password after first logging in with the temporary password provided in the email. Once you log in and create your new password you can view your schedule there. The schedule is for the entire month. You can also download the W2W app and view your schedule easily on your phone which once logged in it will save your information.

How do I access my work email?You should have received an email to your personal email from Microsoft Office. It will prompt you to register your outlook email account and allow you to pick a new password. Once you have completed the registration, you can download the Outlook app and access your emails from your phone.

What should I wear on my first day?Shoes must be close-toed (Preferrably non-slipped, but not required). Scrubs should be loose enough to allow free motion, and provide full coverage when bending or kneeling. Scrubs must be clean, but can be any pattern, design, color or brand as long as it is not offensive or drug or alcohol related. We allow personal scrub caps, but we provide disposable bouffants. We allow personal stethoscopes, but we provide some on the treatment floor. It is recommended you bring a sweater or a light jacket. The conference room can get cold in the fall and winter.

What should I bring on my first day?You will receive a welcome gift bag with a few essential items, but you should bring the following: Driver's License or Passport Social Security Card or Birth Certificate A voided check or a letter from your bank regarding direct deposit. Pens, highlighters or notebooks you like to use when taking notes. Your Lunch (There is a freezer and fridge for storage) Any drinks like coffee, tea or water bottle that you want while we train. You are allowed drinks and snacks at your desk. Your phone charger (Not required, but you do have power outlets attached to your desks)

What about VTNE or licensing costs?AAVEC will reimburse you for the exam fee upon successful completion of the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam). As of December 2022, that fee is $340. AAVEC also will reimburse the cost of your licensing. The application fee for the veterinary technician license is $85, and the renewal fee is $60. You need to renew your license every three years to maintain an active RVT status.

What is my obligation to AAVEC after I complete a veterinary technician program?Every contract is individual and tailored to the applicant. As a general rule, for each semester that you receive reimbursement from AAVEC, you are obligated to complete six months of employment. So if you are reimbursed for the entire veterinary technician program (typically four semesters to be completed at your own pace), you would be obligated to two years of employment at AAVEC. The "clock starts" on this employment obligation once you complete and pass all the coursework and exams for the program through your AVMA-accredited school. You are granted twelve months after completion of the program to pass the VTNE, and an additional six months after that to obtain state licensure.

Where do I park?In the designated Employee Parking which is furthest away from the building. Parking near the building is for clients and doctors.

Where do I enter the building and who do I ask for?On Day 1 you will enter through the main entrance at the front of the building where the blue Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center sign is located. You will tell our client service team (Located to the far right of the front desk) your name and they will page me to come get you. You can sit in the lobby if you arrive early. All the days after you will have a key card and I will show you the areas that you have access to. We will meet in the conference room after the first day, unless I inform you differently.

Do we get paid for training?Absolutely! You are paid for all of your training period regardless if you are with me or in ICU.

Are there designated smoking areas?The property owners have made our hospital and the property surrounding it (The parking lot) a smoke free zone. You would need to smoke in your car or walk off of the premises.

How do we clock in and out?We have a computerized clock in system that requires a 3 digit code. You simply type in your 3 digit code (You will receive this your first day) and clock in and out.

How long are our breaks?During your training period with me you get 60 minutes, however once you pass your final exam your breaks are 30 minutes long. You do not clock out for your breaks, they are paid for.

Where do I fill out my onboarding paperwork? (I-9, etc)"On BambooHR. This website and app will be your HR dashboard and will show you a phone directory for all employees as well as your PTO once accumulated. You can also access your employee manual here. To log in you will type AAVEC.BambooHR.com in your web browser. Enter your email and password. There will be assigned onboarding documents. Be sure to fill each and every one in its entirety or you may have difficulty when payroll is processed. You have the option to upload a photo. If you do not upload a photo, I will take one and upload it for you.

Can I bring my pet to work with me?Unfortunately there are not enough cages for employee pets. However, if your pet has an emergency and is being treated you may keep them at the hospital.

Do I need to get Rabies vaccinations before I start?It is always a good idea to get vaccinated against Rabies, but it is not a requirement of employment.

If I am running late or need to call out who do I call?During your training period with your education coordinator you will call out to Stephanie Garcia. After you have completed your final exam you will call out to your supervisor and shift lead.
